Maquette - Wanderlust - Part 1

Storm gray pastel paper for a backdrop, I’m ready to play with the maquette pieces. This image is saved larger than usual, so you can look up close at the parts, if you like… They were drawn in a large sketch pad, watercolored, inked, and augmented with color pencils (Prismacolors, mostly).

Here is the first pass at assembling the pieces, which were all drawn individually without any relation to each other except in my mind’s eye.

Second pass - redone with the alternate tongue and a running pose.

And final pose for today - switched to vertical and reaching, instead of running. From here I have some ideas of more unusual poses, which will probably require the making of some additional or alternate parts…

Anyway - this is one interpretation of Wanderlust.
