Back from Inner Space

Back from Inner Space

C'est moi.  I am returned from a voyage in my blue spaceship.  The inner space, c'est tres grande.  Perhaps it rivals the scale of the outer space, no?  Who can claim to have explored it or to know of its most unreachable frontiers.  Etienne believes that the pictures come from there, transmitted through heart and mind and hand to the page.  He says they come sometimes from far, sometimes from near.  He has said that the "proto-images" come sometimes before l'inspiration and the pictures must perhaps wait for the collision of l'idee with the lines and shapes.  Etienne says this makes evident that time is not a one-way avenue.  He says it is a divided boulevard and we see only one side, with the traffic all pointed the same way, but if we are tres attentifs, voila, things coming down the other side, from the future, will pop through the row of trees in the center and surprise us.
