So after driving and walking around a while, I settled at one of my favorite spots, outside the old Atlantic Bank and Trust Company building (now beautifully preserved by LabCorp), with part of the wonderful scrap metal cow in view. Extra points for getting Anginetti (my car - second from the left) in the sketch.

I had six separate conversations during the two hours it took to pencil draft and then ink this relatively large sketch (14 x 17 inches). One about LabCorp and the restoration of the bank building. One about sketching and scripture (basically we whole-heartedly agreed that “you are what you eat” whether it’s the object of a lengthy drawing or passages of scripture you hold in meditation). Most about the drawing - people offering praise and encouragement, which is a very common thing, particularly in small towns and rural places. And then there was the conversation with Bobby and Mike. That one was so delightful and surprising that I added it to the drawing, Paul Madonna style, after I got home. Drawing above is at 40% (instead of the usual 20%) so you can read about the conversation.
