Shelter at Home - 1st Pastel

This emerged as many of my pastels do, from shapes that had nothing to do with the ultimate subject. This time the lines came from a bowl of deer vertebrae (the shapes (bleached in the sun and then cleaned thoroughly, of course) are beautiful). The result, however, once filtered through what’s on my mind and in my heart, was this landscape. Safe haven, missing out on a visit from the whales. That’s how the COVID 19 isolation felt a few weeks ago. The next pastel is more how it felt last week. There may be more than the two of these - I never know ahead of time.
