Barn Owl

Experimenting with darker drawing than usual. Fairly quick sketch from a photo, then all the shading and value decisions were made without reference to the photo. I tried to emphasize the feeling that inspired me to start the drawing in the first place.

30 x 40 cm (about 12 x 16 inches) - Ink and colored pencil on Garza Papel acid free engraving paper. This paper has a great texture, but it’s fragile and meant for printing, so dry media (like pencils or charcoal) have to be used carefully.
